Commonwealth Games 2010 Venue

Commonwealth Games is a sporting event which occurs in every four years in different Commonwealth Nations, which is a group of those states which were former British colonies and were under British control. It is through this celebration of sporting events in Commonwealth Games that further relations are improved among different nations of Commonwealth. The venues for the Commonwealth have been varied and different over the years, starting from the time it started in 1930 where the venue was Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

The interesting aspect is that during the time of 1930-1950 the Commonwealth Games were known as British Games and it was in 1958, it changed to British Empire and Commonwealth games where the venue was Cardiff, Wales. Then from 1970-1974 , it was changed into British Commonwealth Games where it was held in the venues of Edinburgh, Scotland and Christchurch, New Zealand respectively . It was finally in 1978 in the venue of Edmonton, Canada where the event got the name of Commonwealth Games. Since then Commonwealth Games took place Brisbane, Australia, Edinburgh, Scotland, Auckland, New Zealand, Victoria, Canada, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Manchester, England for the year 1982, 86, 90, 94, 98, and 2002. The last Commonwealth Games took place in Melbourne, Australia in the year 2006 which was a phenomenal success.

The Commonwealth Games venue is Delhi, India in the year 2010. Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi will be held from October 3 to 14, 2010. This is first chance of India as a country to be the venue of the esteemed Commonwealth Games where games like Athletics, Lawn bowls, Weightlifting , Hockey , Archery, Cycling, Gymnastics, Wrestling , Rugby 7s , Netball , Badminton, Squash , Shooting , Boxing , Aquatics , Tennis and Table tennis will be played in different venues within Delhi . The venues for these games include Jawaharlal Nehru, Dhyan Chand National, Talkatora Stadiums, Indira Gandhi Arena, Delhi University, Tyagaraj, Siri Fort Sports, Yamuna Sports Complexs, Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, SPM Swimming Pool Complex and RK Khanna Tennis Complex. The Commonwealth Games 2010, Delhi promises to have state of the art stadiums and the Indian government is leaving no stone unturned in making sure that Commonwealth Games 2010 be a successful event.
