Commonwealth Games Success

Commonwealth Games is multilateral venture project taking place in every four years among the Commonwealth Nations which is a voluntary association of 53 independent sovereign states which were earlier British Colonies, or dependencies of these colonies. All these Commonwealth Nations are like an international organization where all countries work together for development of democracy, rule of law, good governance, human rights, egalitarianism, free trade and world peace. All these are achieved through meetings; conferences, through multilateral projects and one such event are Commonwealth Games. Commonwealth Games in the current status has 53 commonwealth Nations as well as 71 teams participating in the games. Commonwealth Games started in 1930 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The Games include sports like athletics , aquatics , archery , Badminton , Billiards ,boxing , canoeing , cycling , fencing ,gymnastics ,judo, rowing snooker , shooting , squash , table tennis , tennis , ten-pin bowling , triathlon , wrestling etc making it a popular sporting event among those nations who participate in Common Wealth Games.

The Games are time and again are called 'Friendly Games' , since ,If we trace Commonwealth Games history then it seen that there was only single competition sports event which was held in the beginning from 1930 to 1944 , but with time changes have been introduced in the event . In 1998 Games in Kuala Lumpur there was team sports initiated like Cricket (50overs game ), hockey (men and women ),netball(women )and Rugby(7's men ) which nations took part in and now have been a regular feature of past Commonwealth Games .The 71 teams that participate in the event are from all over the world from Asian ,African , European ,North American countries.

Commonwealth Games Federation which is the governing body for the direction and control over the Commonwealth Games has also initiated education via sports development & physical recreation for the people of Commonwealth Nations. The success of Commonwealth Games lies not only on the popularity of the games among the people, but also the fact that it is one of those sporting event which is brings nations together who comply to the core ideals of Commonwealth Games of Federation ,i.e., Humanity , Equality and Destiny . It is values like these which induce the achievement of Commonwealth Games world over.
